Punjab Govt Announces Summer Vacations 22 May to 23 August

The Punjab government has announced summer vacations for all public and private schools from May 22, 2026, to August 23, 2026. The decision was made because of the severe heatwave across the province. Schools will reopen on Monday, August 24, 2026. The government said the long break is important to protect students, teachers, and school staff from extreme weather conditions. Parents and students have been advised to follow safety measures during the summer season.

The action has been taken keeping in mind heat and health of students. The spokesperson of a department said the holidays could be extended by one week if temperature goes up more as a precaution.

Parents and school teachers have welcomed this decision because intense summer temperatures may affect children's health. The school heads have been requested to complete all the academic assignments prior to holidays and assign homework or summer projects to students.

It must be noted here that summer breaks usually start around early June nowadays, and so this announcement has been expected while temperatures are going up.
